Mindful Communication

It is important how you communicate with others. If you get verbally attacked or challenged, remind myself to respect and love others, even when they forget to respect you. It is not easy but it is the only way.

Some people may not agree with you and may speak their views in a patronizing way. I am almost certain that it is not their intention to be patronizing, however I can’t deny the energy that I sometimes feel that’s directed towards me. I observe that some people who have strong beliefs become defensive, reactive, and upset. That’s okay! Mindfulness takes time to develop, we will all get there eventually.

If the topic of discussion is something dear to you and something that evokes a lot of emotion, take your time compiling your response or argument. Think before you speak. Think before you write. Think.  You get the point, right?

When you communicate you send out energy. Everything is energy. Food is energy. Thoughts are energy. When you communicate a thought you should first set an intention of what the purpose is of communicating the idea. Many times we confuse feelings with emotions and let our emotions take us to ego land.

Please communicate through your heart space and not the ego. It is okay to have different opinions. We are all here to learn from one another. It is okay to be emotional. However, please be mindful of the energy that you attach to your words. Many times it is not what and how you say it, but what is happening to your vibration when you are saying it. I too am in the process of mastering this skill, I welcome you to join me.

Check out a quote/ idea from the bible:

For in the way you judge, you will be judged; and by your standard of measure, it will be measured to you. “Why do you look at the speck that is in your brother’s eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye?”Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ and behold, the log is in your own eye?…
