Sage

There are different varieties of sage. Some types like White Sage is used mostly for smudging, energy purification, and insect repellent. Other varieties of sage are used as a herb for consumption. The easiest way to prepare it is as a tea. It is said that sage tea has antioxidants and can help improve brain function and memory. Another great sage quality is that it can help increase oxygen circulation in the body. Proper oxygen levels in the body is important for maintaining overall well being and being protected from infections. Iodine is also important. Sage can assist in the improvement of the digestive system and skin healing. Moreover, sage is anti-imflamatory and has been shown to improve dental health as well.

My perspective on sage is that it is purifying. I’ve read that it purifies airborne bacteria. From personal experience, if I notice a room has some stale air, first thing is to open windows and turn on a fan to circulate air, and burn some sage. This plant seems to do a good job at neutralizing the atmosphere once it airs out. Below is what popped up online when I researched sage:

“In Ayurveda, sage is considered an aromatic, warm, and drying herb. It has been used for centuries for its cleansing, restorative properties, particularly for the nervous system, digestive tract, and cognitive function.

-Its warming and drying qualities help to clear excess phlegm and congestion.

-Sage is considered a powerful herb for the nervous system, helping to reduce anxiety, enhance mood, and improve mental clarity and focus.

-Sage’s potent antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties make it a popular remedy for oral health. It is used as a gargle to soothe sore throats, mouth ulcers, and inflamed gums.

How to use sage in Ayurveda

  • Tea (infusion): A tea made from dried or fresh sage leaves is a common remedy for excessive sweating, digestive issues. Use about 1 to 2 grams of dried leaves per cup of hot water, steeping for 5–10 minutes.
  • Gargle or mouthwash: A stronger infusion of sage tea can be used as a gargle for sore throats and mouth inflammation.”

I guess since medicinally sage is good for calming the nervous system, therefore helping one stay at a higher frequency and this repels low frequency spirits…
